We currently facilitate a Bespoke Education Programme (BEP) for a young person aged 14 in Northumberland.
It is funded by the LEA and is provided on a full time basis. This Programme has been developed to meet the young person's educational, social and independence targets. It is provided through a mixture of 1:1 teaching in a low-distracting familiar environment (home based) and by accessing and developing appropriate local community based social experiences. The programme is run in conjunction with Natural Ability (www.naturalability.org). Autism Dimensions was asked to provide this programme for the young person involved as he struggled greatly in the traditional special needs school setting. He had difficulties with concentrating in a busy, noisy school environment and this would often be displayed through physical intensity and seen as 'aggressive' behaviour. He needs more time to respond to questions and directions and to make transitions and the school environment could not provide this. The BEP can now give him that extra time to develop his skills at his own pace and in the way he needs.
Autism Dimensions are providing the teaching and autism consultancy for my son’s bespoke home programme. AD are a unique organisation that combines a high level of expertise in ASD with an approachable, flexible, responsive service that really delivers a programme individually tailored to the needs of your child.
AD are professional, highly organised and efficient. They have the experience to advise on complex and difficult areas such as behaviour management in adolescence, sensory difficulties, self help skills including toileting and developing social interaction skills. They offer an excellent service which I would highly recommend.

Not all children 'fit' into the regular education system - especially those with a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder. We believe it is critical to provide all children with an education programme that works for them and that allows them to flourish.
Support for Families
We give families support, when a child or sibling is diagnosed with Autism.
